The Clone Wars: Ahsoka Tano - All Grown Up!

To celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars in theaters this week, I thought it would be a fun "what if" exercise to see what Anakin's new padawan would look like in the unlikely event that she happens to make it out of the Clone Wars into adulthood (since she's about a decade too young for me as depicted in the time period). It was quite a challenging task to try to work backwards from the exaggerated proportions and style employed by the new movie/tv series and come up with a more realistic take on the character as an adult. In the end, I'm not entirely sure I went far enough in pulling back on some of the facial features, but if you take a look at people like Femi Taylor (Oola!) or model Jessica White I don't think my Ahsoka is far out of bounds. This also marks the first appearance of a Togruta in my galleries!

Thanks for looking and especially for those taking the time to leave comments!

Edit Note: This is now a revised version. What did I change? I toned her nose back a little bit further after some feedback combined with my own personal feelings.

Edit 2: Just got back from the movie, and I absolutely loved it. I'm very much looking forward to the TV series starting in the fall! Ahsoka is a cute, if somewhat stereotypical, character, and I feel that if she happened to make it to adulthood she'd turn out much in the way I've depicted her.

Blue Project WIP

Well, I'd hoped to have not one but TWO new images for you guys before Thanksgiving, but the world and inspiration conspired against it. I've been working on Ciel's "iconic" image (it's still coming, Solaris, I promise!) like Lana's and Oola's before it. However, in the middle of working on it, while struggling to get just that perfect pose, I just got this strong urge to bring one of my favorite Star Wars Legacy characters to life.

Thus, I bring you Deliah Blue! She is the Zeltron mechanic of Cade Skywalker's Mynock.

However, as the title states, she's not finished. After getting her morph, skin, and hair shaders down, I decided I wanted to try to recreate her standard outfit as closely as possible. This, of course, means lots of clothes hunting and texture creation on my part. I have finished preliminary texturing on her shirt (which I may tweak), but her pants aren't finished yet (though she is wearing underwear)! I was so excited about how she was progressing that I wanted to share. You can see two earlier shots of her here and here.

So my final question to any of you still with me at this point is:

Is seeing WIP's like this something you'd like to see more often? Does it increase your anticipation towards seeing the final image or does it ruin the surprise? Would you rather see a WIP at about this stage, or earlier in the process so there's a greater difference between the WIP and the final image? Please, let me know either here, or via e-mail.

Technical Notes: This render took Poser 21 hours to run due to the volumetric lighting. Because of that the depth of field had to be done in postwork (using the same technique as in Kaiya In The Treetops and Daru's Nabooian Sunset). The tattoos are courtesy of my newfound Photoshop pen tool "skills". The first step towards Darth Talon has been taken. Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to render her.

Tenel Ka Chume Ta' Djo, Queen of the Hapes Consortium circa 40 ABY (After Battle of Yavin, i.e. Star Wars Episode 4)

For those wondering what happened to her left arm:

"During a lightsaber training exercise with Jacen Solo, Tenel Ka's newly constructed lightsaber (made from a rancor tooth) shorted out due to a flaw in its focusing crystal. Jacen's blade slipped through the space it had previously occupied and cut off Tenel Ka's left arm. Tenel Ka bore Jacen no ill will, but Jacen felt seriously guilty. The accident had drastically changed their relationship, especially in light of the fact that, prior to the accident, Jacen had hoped they would become more than friends.

Whisked back to Hapes by her grandmother Ta'a Chume, Tenel Ka briefly considered whether she should continue to train as a Jedi, but in a display of personal strength and confidence, Tenel Ka refused to have the prosthetic replacement her grandmother arranged for her to have attached, and sought to enhance her physical abilities along with her Jedi talents to make up."

From her Wookiepedia entry. (Warning the entry contains major spoilers for recent Star Wars novels near the end). After reading Tempest, I just had give her an image.

-----------------------

On a technical note, this image was created in Poser 7 using Victoria 4.0. V4's high-res textures are so large, that I would not even dare attempt to load them into a P5/6 render. It would just fall over and die.

For those hoping for impressions on V4 and Poser 7, I'll say this about each:

Poser 7 is still buggy, however there is nothing preventing me from using it as a replacement for Poser 6. Multiple undo, the faster render times, and the drastically reduced memory usage far outweigh any other problems (importing, not opening, pz3 files is broken, some keyboard shortcuts are broken, shadows in renders occasionally have artifacts, dynamic cloth only seems to work if it's all done in a single simulation) that I have encountered. If any of these things sound like problems to you, I recommend holding off until eF releases a few patches.

Victoria 4.0 - Wow, where to begin. I really like this model. The morphs are organized well into categories. Her default face is much prettier than default V3, though I find her eyes too large. The high res textures are incredibly detailed, and the joint bends are much improved. V4 does require P6 or P7 because of the way her joints are set up. Poser 4 (and possibly 5) do weird things with her leg bends as you might have seen around here. I'd love to be able to convert my girl's faces over to V4 when more content comes around but I don't know that they'll be possible to recreate since many of the facial morphs are different.
