Blue Project WIP
Description: Well, I'd hoped to have not one but TWO new images for you guys before Thanksgiving, but the world and inspiration conspired against it. I've been working on Ciel's "iconic" image (it's still coming, Solaris, I promise!) like Lana's and Oola's before it. However, in the middle of working on it, while struggling to get just that perfect pose, I just got this strong urge to bring one of my favorite Star Wars Legacy characters to life.

Thus, I bring you Deliah Blue! She is the Zeltron mechanic of Cade Skywalker's Mynock.

However, as the title states, she's not finished. After getting her morph, skin, and hair shaders down, I decided I wanted to try to recreate her standard outfit as closely as possible. This, of course, means lots of clothes hunting and texture creation on my part. I have finished preliminary texturing on her shirt (which I may tweak), but her pants aren't finished yet (though she is wearing underwear)! I was so excited about how she was progressing that I wanted to share. You can see two earlier shots of her here and here.

So my final question to any of you still with me at this point is:

Is seeing WIP's like this something you'd like to see more often? Does it increase your anticipation towards seeing the final image or does it ruin the surprise? Would you rather see a WIP at about this stage, or earlier in the process so there's a greater difference between the WIP and the final image? Please, let me know either here, or via e-mail.

Deliah Blue

I don't suppose you have her number? hahaha. WIP is fine, can't wait to see the finished though.

textures

One more thing. For clothing textures try to recycle some of cloth textures (the free ones that come with the Aery Soul myshirt sets do well). It's easy to change the colour on them and it adds a lot to the piece. If you want some of the node based cloth stuff I've used let me know, as they may be better for a more sci-fi plasti-tex-cloth look.

Very nice! I don't know much about Zeltrons. Apparently there were Zeltrons in the KOTOR games but I don't recall them. I also remember these purple humanoids that were in the Star Wars / Return Of The Jedi comics and annuals from the mid-1980s. I seem to remember they were easily aroused and very sexual (or at least as much as you could show in a kid's comic). I am guessing they were Zeltrons since checking them up on the net.

As to how she looks, I think she looks great. The reddish-purple skin looks good, as does the blue lipstick and hair. It is a colour combination that works well. The hair colour I have seen in recent images and from memory were almost the same colour as the skin but in the case of this image, I think the difference in colour between the skin and hair makes each stand out more. Whether or not they have different shades of colour for their hair (some more blue like yours or more red like the comic art I have seen), I don't know.

Regarding whether the inclusion of WIP images on the site is a good idea or not, it can vary. Usually I feel it is better to keep the WIP images out of the way (or at least put them in a different area) so they don't lessen the impact of the finished version. That said, they can be excellent when the artist isn't sure about something or whether the image isn't even good enough. A fan or art lover can give useful feedback. I have seen WIPs before from artists and from the feedback I have given, has encouraged the artist to persevere with a particular image or alter certain features that they were divided over.

Maybe you could show WIPs via e-mail or different section of the site to people that ask for them. Apply to go on a list and they see WIPs when you are thinking you need a second opinion (so they only see WIPs you provide instead of every single one). That way, if they are reserved for people that want to see them and give feedback if required, it can be done so without there being any concerned thoughts by the artist of "diluting the quality" of the gallery. Would that idea be too complicated?

It does make me wonder how many images you make that you don't think make the grade but in reality have made it or could be finished. I am guessing you have or have had several images on your drive that have never made it past WIP.

@ Solaris

Ther is a Zeltron in KoToR II. She is in a space station on Telos. YOu help her kill some guy then kill her or you kill both the guy and her at the same time.

Fantastic!

It's funny, one of the reasons that I got Poser7 in the first place was to bring one of my own RPG Star Wars characters to life, so to speak, in a quality picture. The problem was finding a quality picture of a Zeltron on the internet wasn't happening so I figured, "Why not do it yourself?" and it has been an uphill battle since, lol. Now, to my surprise, you have not only created a quality pic, but of a Zeltron to boot! Thanks for somehow reading my mind and putting up a wonderful pic of Miss Blue, and if you have any advice for a struggling Poser 7 user, let me know.

*whistle*

Deliah Blue, Legacy era. I've been reading the graphic novel form. She's really good with a hydrospanner.

Red is nice

I didn't know this character at all. She's really beautiful. Zeltrons are a part of my favourite characters (with Twileks of course). I know that you will have certainly a lot of work with her now ;-) but I hope we'll see some other races of Star Wars again... I really like Zabraks and Cathars too

i agree with the suggestion about a possible wip section - i understand some people only wanting to see the finished product but i would personally be fascinated to see how these awesome pics come together for you.

keep up the amazing work!
